2nd July 2018 The Departure

Ting is at a better place now.

The Wake will be held from 2nd July ~ 3rd July at our old house at Bee Bee Park.
Funeral will be held on 4th July and cortège will leave for cremation at Nian En Garden 念恩园 （五百廊 Pokok Sena）in the morning.

2nd July 2018 Continue Sending Metta & Blessings

28th June 2018 DO NOT Resuscitate (DNR)

Late evening doctor came telling that there is not ICU room available for his dialysis procedure. Which also means that Ting’s condition will continue to get worse and worse.

Doctor told us to prepare for the worst... maybe 2 more days...

The only thing we asked from Doctor - no resuscitation.

That’s all we asked.

28th June 2018 Dialysis

Ting is intubated and put into “sleep mode” since 26th June evening... all we could do beside prayers, is just wait and let the medical team do what they need to do.

One of the side effect of the drug is damage to the kidney. Not surprising to hear from Doctor that he now needs dialysis. Considering his heart’s condition still good, the medical team thought that he can give dialysis a go, in hope to improve overall, though there are risk in dialysis :

1) Infection
2) Non-stop bleeding
3) Sudden cardiac death

After further discussion, we decided to give a go.

Unfortunately, the team is facing facility issue - No available ICU room for him (partly due to his  Carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE) infection circumstances).

We understand each department has their own priority and policy for the best interest of all patients.

Maybe it’s a blessing in disguise? Nobody knows...

I trust everything is the best arrangement.

27th June 2018 For Better or Worse...

I touched down AS Airport at 7:30am headed to Hospital straight away... to see him lying on his bed... having tubes all over.. mouth n nose... stagnant... blood stain around his teeth and cracked lips... it broke my heart.

I held his hand, spoke to his ear , :” Kor, I m here d...”

And tell him all the words I wanted to say to him.

Doctor came around 9am, told me maybe 2 more days...

His blood is infected with super bacteria that is resistance to all antibiotic.

Today they gave him the last shot - most powerful antibiotic, but will impact the kidney...

I told doctor I don’t see how his body is able to recover the antibiotic side-effect even if the super drug is responsive. Doc said they will do what they can.

I told doctor, just make sure no struggling for him during final moment. That’s all we asked.

Looking at his monitor reading and his very water-retention arms, he is fading fast...

I love you, Kor... but if the body is really no longer able to function, please let go.

You have fought well, we are proud of you ...

5:30pm I got hold of Brother 如德 to get a closed Buddhist monk to come over and gave Ting a short Dhamma talk and blessings. As we no longer being allowed to enter his room due to risk of us being infected by the patient (this time around), I got a green light from staff nurse to go in with full infection control wear head to toe. I took my phone and the 念佛机师父gave to Ting and fix it on. I dialed from my phone with speaker on near to Ting’s ear and 师父 talk over.

I hope Ting can benefit from this session and may Ting find peace and strength.

Time now is closed to 9pm. I am still in the hospital, at cafeteria, wrapping up my post.
